Acute Kidney Injurey (AKI)
Definition
NICE guidance AKI- rise in serum creatinine of 26micromol/litre or greater within 48/24
- 50% or greater rise in serum creatinine known or presumed to have occurred within the past 7/7 NHS AKI algorithm
- fall in urine output to less than 0.5ml/kg/hour for more than 6/24 in adults and more than 8/24 in children and young people
- 25% or greater fall in eGFR in children and young people within the past 7/7.
Potential causes of AKI
- Volume depletion
- Sepsis
- Medications which could be injurious to the kidney
- Obstruction
- Contrast Agent
- Intrinsic Renal Disease
- Rhabdomyolosis
